Abstract:
Titanium dioxide represents a material that we have intensively studied because of its application in medicine, energetic, biology, environment protection etc. We have synthesized TiO2 by alternative methods: ultrasonically assisted hydrothermal and hydrothermal in microwaves field using the titanium tetrachloride as precursors. The originality of our research is given by the use of the hydrothermal synthesis in microwave field with immersed sonotrode in the reaction environment, ultrasounds being applied directly to the working environment. Hence, the crystallization of TiO2 appears at temperatures and pressures much smaller than in the classic hydrothermal method, the crystallization rate and the number of nucleation centers increases due to the agitation produced by ultrasounds. The nanocrystals of TiO2 were characterized by XRD and SEM.
